Autumn Hike at the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary!

Please join L.L. Bean Mansfield for our autumn hike at the Moose Hill Audubon property in Sharon, MA. This will be a loop hike along well traveled sections of the Warner Trail, Bay Circuit Trail and other locally marked trails. This popular hike will be on Sunday October 27th at 10AM. We’ll be meeting in the parking area adjacent to the visitor center. We’ll hike to the summit of Moose Hill and Bluff Hill. Good views to the west and south await us on Bluff Hill. There still should be some good color in the remaining foliage covering the surrounding hills. This hike should run the full 3 hours and cover about 4 miles.
The minimum age for attending is 8 (Children 8-15 yrs must have a participating adult with them, 16-17 yrs must have a parent/guardian sign participant agreement but do not need to attend).
Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
Dressing in layers works best.
Wear appropriate footwear for hiking.
Please bring water, snacks and any personal medicines and gear you may need as well. These outings are free but you are responsible to have everything you need.
A camera and/or binoculars are always a welcome addition.
Leashed, people friendly, well socialized outdoor dogs are welcome at this venue.
Please arrive 15 minutes before hand because we want to get started on time.
If you have any trouble finding our meetup location please feel free to call before the event kicks off. Andy’s cell phone is[masked]-4503.
Look for Andy’s Green Honda Pilot with the “L.L. Bean Mansfield Outing Program” banner hanging on the side!

    I met a lot of interesting people on this hike; thanks for the company. It was a pleasant day for a stroll through the woods.

    The weather was perfect, not too cool, or warm. I really liked the views from the hills.

    I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who came out to hike with L.L. Bean Mansfield at Moose Hill on this beautiful Sunday morning. I’ve uploaded some of the photos that Matt took. If you shot any of your own photos, please upload them so others can enjoy them too. Hope to see you all on future outings. --Andy

    RT 95 to Exit 8 works best.

    Andy, do you have any thoughts about traffic on route 1 this morning? I usually avoid it completely on the day of a game.

      Game starts at 1? Your morning commute should be fine. I take (from Norwood, not sure where u are) 1A to 27 because even on game days, I hate 1 in general.

    Andy, you may want to change to write up for the event to remove the "dogs are welcome" part. It caught me out.

    Hi everyone,

    I wanted to remind everyone who’s planning on attending this outing that dogs are NOT allowed on the trails at Moose Hill. Also, there is a fee for using the trails:

    Mass Audubon Members enjoy FREE admission.
    $4 for nonmember adults;
    $3 for nonmember children (2-12) and seniors
    Sharon residents are free. The weather looks to be fine for a fall hike: a mostly sunny day in the mid 50’s. See you all tomorrow morning before 10AM. --Andy

    Here is the address for the sanctuary:
    Address:
    293 Moose Hill Street
    Sharon, MA[masked]

    Also there is a fee for using the area:

    Admission:
    Mass Audubon Members enjoy FREE admission.
    $4 for nonmember adults;
    $3 for nonmember children (2-12) and seniors
    Sharon residents are free. One last point: sorry but my write up on this is incorrect: dogs are NOT allowed on the trails at Moose Hill. --Andy
