Wednesday Evening Paddle

Every Wednesday throughout the year we will be kayaking! It's a great group and a great place to paddle! We have seen bald eagles, deer, coyotees, great horned owls and many many great blue herons! We usually try and paddle around 4-6 miles, but we only go as fast as the slowest paddler. The idea of the group is to meet and enjoy our passion for the outdoors and kayaking in particular.

We did this last year, before we established this group and had anywhere from 6-20 people join us each week. We are hoping all you kayakers in this group make it a regular event. Most of the nights we are on the water until sunset. Many of us will then retire to the Country Place for a meal. It's a great way to make new friends and enjoy the outdoors at the same time.

You will need a kayak or canoe with a valid PA launch permit, PFD, paddle and a whistle (PA State Law). PFD's must be worn!

I will see you there!

I think Steve is on the lehigh River today Kris.
One thing is for sure he will have fun there....The Lehigh is rocking pretty good with the recent rain.

I am so bummed I missed it since it would have been the first time I paddled with the group. I have two kayaks and BOTH had an expired launch permit. I used the time to drive to the notary and get new ones. Oh well.... :-(

It's a shame some folks didn't make it last night...it was an awesome evening to paddle. It also was a good time at Country Place afterwards. That place is WAY to cheap....cheese steaks $2.75?...SHEESH!

Sounds good Larry thanks I will message you when I go there. Not many of my friends kayak and it's boring going alone. Same goes for anyone else too.

Is anyone going to Country Place after the paddle? We have to let them know how many are coming so they can put tables together.
Bring cameras and dry clothes. You can change at the Marina Restrooms at Harrisburg School Road. They are down by the lake to the RIGHT of the round building when you come down the hill. They are open 24/7 .

5 to 6 is a tough time slot for traffic....That's why I leave directly from work but I get there way early but get in some extra paddling. You might make it down in a hour but it'll be close. If you ever want to paddle Beltzville on a different evening let me know. I go out of Preachers Camp pretty often by myself. Been there twice already this year.

Ok I will. I'm gonna see how the finances go the next few weeks and go from there. I really wanna do this Wednesday paddle though. Maybe I'll load my kayak up next Tuesday night and try to get out of work on time at 5 make it down there by 6. *crosses fingers*

I been wanting to tackle the Lehigh but more the beginner section (Gap to Northampton) I have been giving the NEPA Kayak School some serious consideration too. I think it might be money well spent. If you do decide on the school let me know we can buddy up.

I want to but I'm working my way up to the Lehigh. I'm getting a spray skirt this weekend. I just started kayaking regularly about 2 years ago. Mostly lakes/ponds/bays.

Do you just do flat water Kris or do you play on the Lehigh too?

Do you guys ever go to Beltzville on Wednesdays? I wouldn't be able to make it to Nockamixon for 6pm from where I live.

Trust Me....After 30 years of service to the company nobody will even question if I need a few "mental health days". :)

I do need to come up with an excuse as to why I showed up to work toting my kayak when I am feeling poorly...gonna have to work on that!

We might have to shoot Chris with the water cannons

Weather looks to be pretty good except for a possible passing shower.
I'll probably get there about 4'ish to get in a little paddling before the evening event.

    Boss...<cough cough> I think I am going to leave a bit early cuz I don't feel good.

Put the finishing touches on my trailer (greased bearings/tired checked) and I am ready to go. This will be the kick-off for my kayak season! Albeit, I have been out a couple times this year already. Wednesday evening Nockamixon.....Thursday Beltville.....Then Friday scoot for Cambria County and the Stoneycreek Rendezvous Weekend.

    Boss....I won't be in the next couple days <cough cough> I have a bug.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
