Hike at South Mountain Preserve

Come join us at South Mountain for a wonderful fall hike. We hiked this in the spring and had a wonderful time, now let's go back for the fall views and since it is a Sunday, there will be no hunters in the woods. We should be on the trail for about two hours at most.

Very nice group of people and a nice hike. Thanks Steve so much for organizing and for your offer with the sticks. Something I should consider.

Walking through the boulders reminded me of the White Mountains of NH.

Great job leading the group today, Steve! Were you going to post the group pic here or elsewhere? I'd like to grab a copy if that's ok with you.

Great hike and great people! I like how the hike was extended for another mile. Looking forward to the next hike - and I hope Skyler joins us too!

As much as my wife would love to do the hike, she is a born-and-raised Vietnamese, and there is YES way she will spend 2 hours outdoors with tomorrow's chilly temps! She request if there is a possibility to make the hike longer!

Hi Mike! I was thinking about doubling it, so I'm game for making it longer, too! :)

Is there a particular place where you meet? And is this a trail that's suitable for beginner hikers?

    November 13, 2012

    • Steve J.

Bari, We meet in the parking lot at Kline's road just off of Chesnut street in Emmaus. This is a hike you can absolutely do. Look forward to seeing you there!

As much as I'd love to do the hike, I'm a born-and-raised Floridian, and there is no way I'm spending 2 hours outdoors with tomorrow's chilly temps! I don't even think I own the proper gear for that type of weather!

Carmen, We will hike about 4 miles over some nice terrain. It is hilly, but nothing to write home about in terms of difficulty!

Hi Steve, how many miles is the hike? Thanks!

Steve, I'm going to join the group on the hike. I'll be bringing my two nieces, ages 13 and 9, and my nephew, age 7. I'm pretty sure they will be able to manage the 2-hour hike.

I just opened up to 30! Guess we ahve a lot of folks that want to work off the turkey and pie!

    Can we bring dogs?

    November 10, 2012

    • Steve J.

Kathy, everyone has a different idea about this, but if your dog is well behaved, friendly and leashed I don't really have a problem. Just keep in mind that not everyone enjoys dogs.
