Known as America's first suburb, Brooklyn Heights is truly a gem. Travel and Leisure named it one of America's top 10 most beautiful neighborhoods, and its beauty is rivaled only by its place in American history. These quaint, tree-lined streets have been the sites of Revolutionary War battles, abolitionist activism and have inspired numerous novelists. Visit a stop on the Underground Railroad, or the home of Truman Capote, where he penned Breakfast at Tiffany's and where Jackie Robinson signed with the Dodgers.
Join Free Tours by Foot on this name-your-own-price* tour as we take it to Brooklyn and command the heights of one of New York City's most historic, beautiful and architecturally diverse neighborhoods, with beautiful homes in various architectural styles, from Federal to Greek, Gothic and Renaissance Revivals, in forms ranging from carriage homes to mansions. Brooklyn Heights is hard to beat! Come also for the stories of engineering feats, military defeats, anti-slavery preachers, prodigious authors, legendary athletes and fictional TV families. If anything, come for the unbeatable views of Manhattan and take a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Make sure you choose the 10 a.m. Brooklyn Heights tour for May 18th!
* These tours are "free", but it is suggested that you give the tour guide a tip at the end of the tour. My suggestion would be nothing less than $10. More if you feel the tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Remember, most tours in the NYC area start at $20 and go up from there!
After the tour, we will walk over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, where will we get lunch at Seahorse Restaurant (a "sister" restaurant to Cowgirls) located at 259 Front St, New York, NY. My suggestion is to try the Rattlesnake Bites, but everything on their menu is great!! The lunch will be done on a "pay for yourself" basis, but note that there will be a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill, so be sure you figure that into your tax and tip.
Please note: This tour is "rain or shine". Let's keep our fingers crossed for "shine".
Don't forget your cameras!!
