The majestic Guildhall Art Gallery and Roman Amphitheatre throws open its doors late this evening between the hours of 6pm and 10pm. Enjoy the marvelous art collection; and gasp at the Roman Amphitheatre. Come and see the Magna Carta (on display in the Amphitheatre) and other City of London treasures including Shakespeare's Folio dotted around the complex. A treasure trail like no other! Also watch rarely seen archive film of 'Old London' shown in the Roman Amphitheatre, and listen to larger than life tales on city life in previous times, told by writers through the ages in a spoken word cabaret. There will also be a pop up bar and DJ.
Guildhall has been the centre of City government since the Middle Ages. The present Guildhall was begun in 1411 and, having survived both the Great Fire of London and the Blitz, it is the only secular stone structure dating from before 1666 still standing in the City.
Today, Guildhall still plays an important role in the City. It provides a venue for state and civic banquets, meetings of the City of London's elected assembly, the Court of Common Council, and for the Honorary Freedom of the City ceremony.
The Art Gallery, and most parts are FREE to enter, However if you intend to visit the 'John Bartlett-London Sublime' exhibition, the usual charge of £5 (£3 for concessions) for this particular exhibition will still apply.
We are treating the evening as flexible. We expect to be at Guildhall Art Gallery until approx 8.30 pm, after which we can head off to a local bar, exactly which bar will be decided upon during the evening itself and will depend upon the numbers interested. Please note that other than the 6pm start time no other timings are guaranteed, flexibility is the key.

Hi Lara,
Ken is probably likely to be holding a meetup flag as he was when we went to St Pauls a few weeks ago. Failing that just have a walk around the gallery you might see some people with a meetup badge that are co-hosts. I will probably put my badge on.
