Yep, not as good as I'd hoped. Thought it had its moments though.
Left the cinema when it got to the ridiculous chase after the stupid kid with the gun - the stereotypes & cinematic - no, TV - cliches were flying around everywhere & it was too preposterous & bad to remain in there. Looked for you after to compare notes (was in the bar) but to no avail. Hope you're feeling better - I did after a pint.
Hi Andrew, same to you. Hope you enjoyed your food. You didn't miss much - the company was lovely as usual, but the venue was a complete grotty let-down. I see you're a member of Ken's. Was out with them Friday and it was a great night.
... over-rated. I like Ishiguro but Never LMG is no Remains Of The Day or Artist of a Floating World.
Cldn't make the Meets for Corrections (brilliant, I thought), or the subsequent one, forgotten which. Did go to Chronicle of a Death F (good Meet; v interesting discussion). A/way, I'm just into the 2nd movement of the Resurrection Symphony, gotta go!
Hi Andrew - thanks for the post and many apologies for not replying earlier; been having internet (VirginMedia) problems and also very, very busy. No! not given up for the Summer - actually just finished The Outsider - that'll be L’Étranger to you (really enjoyed it this time; when I tried to read it as a young would-be-existe
ntialist student I didn't understand it at all and hated it!).
Very interesting and obviously a classic. Read Never Let Me Go before that, which I thought heavily ...
