LONG ISLAND WOMEN'S MEMOIR WRITERS GROUP 5.00 5.006

The Long Island Women's Memoir Writers Group is dedicated to the art of storytelling the pages and chapters of your life. The pages of our book blank but our memories, rich as the morning light, we write the language of our hearts.

We all have a story to tell and like it or not, our stories have a life of their own and you encounter them in the oddest of places.

Meet other women memoir writers who are sharing their stories in an interactive, sensitive, supportive environment that addresses such topics as
*Myths, Metaphors & Making Connections
*Searching for the Missing Pieces of Your Story
*Sight Unseen: Telling the Story through all your Senses
*The Living and the Dead...Honoring/Exposing &
Naming Names
*The Real Truth, Whole Truth and a Little Bit of
Embellishment
*Finding Publishers or Self-Publishing...Does it
Really Matter?

This is a group that writes on their own, shares, and learns about the creative process of telling the story of their lives, be it for publication or to leave as a legacy to your family. It is an exploration, an education in the craft of writing your own true story and being true to yourself.

Today is what it is because yesterday was what it was. And if today is like yesterday, tomorrow will be like today. If you want tomorrow to be different, you must make today different. Read more

“Jenna, welcome! And just in time for tomorrow's meeting on meeting yourself at the intersections of your life. Take a good look at our discussion board to catch yourself up with where we are. Everyone is at a different place with their writing and you need not feel intimidated by how long they've been in the group. It took a few weeks to get started but we're all cooking now. Jump into it and I'll guide you along wherever you are. See you tomorrow, hopefully.”

“I was a writing major in college and memoir was a genre that I identified with the most. I want to write a memoir one day and I would love to meet other people and give myself an outlet to do some writing that I rarely get to do”

“Hi Joann and welcome. Just in time, too. Our next meeting is tomorrow between 1 and 4 at my house in Sayville. There is much to do in the process of writing memoir but you have taken the first step toward your goal. Join us for an afternoon of inspiration and fun and bring along a notebook and pen for starters. I look forward to meeting you. Valerie”

“Geraldine, So good to have you join us. It's never too late to begin that book that you always wanted to write. The process is magical when your intent is embedded in it and as long as it continues, you'll find that it begins to have a life of its own. Take a look at the exercise for our next meetup and send it to me at the secure address I sent along with it. And I'll look forward to meeting you on the 16th. Valerie”

“I have been wanting to write my story for a long time. Now that I am an almost empty nester I feel the time is right. I enjoyed writing when I was young and then my life became too preoccupied.”
