Linux Performance Tools

It's 3am and your production website is "slow". Welcome to the wonderful world of troubleshooting on Linux.

Here's a worldwind tour of the standard system tools to try to understand what "slow" means, where the "slowness" is coming from, so that you can ultimately see why it's slow and how to fix it. Focus will be on how to invoke them, reading their results accurately, and connecting that information with the subsystems that are impacted so you can appropriately focus on what changes you need to fix it.

Presented by Chris McEniry.

Please be sure to park across the bridge in the main employee lot, and not in the visitor spots next to the building.

Thanks Mac, and Brad for organizing. Was interesting to see familiar tools' output in the context of the USE method. Brendan Gregg's book has sat unopened on my desk for months until today

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
