In the late nineties I interviewed several prominent libertarians before I realized that's what best described my personal views. I signed the non-initiation of force statement live on the air and was hooked ever since. In 2004 I started serving in the Washington State Libertarian Party, in my earlier days I was a volunteer at Hempfest and other outreach events. Then I went on to be one of five in the State Executive Committee (SEC). Then two years ago I was voted in as State Chair.. In that time we have held meetings all across the state while working together to improve how we educate citizens and influence voters regardless of the percentage of votes we personally get.
One thing was clear, the more numbers of supporters and volunteers the lighter the burden when these tasks arose. So I want to thank all of you who took time to stuff envelopes, write newsletters (or articles), gather signatures, pass out
fliers, and throw down a few dollars to help pay for it all. Some of you are here because of the efforts of others to get the word out. There are still other tasks to work on. We need a web site overhaul. We need to continue to build the newsletter staff to help Rachel and Michael who have worked VERY hard to revive a critical piece of the communications for the party.
We now have, this month, a Convention for the LPWA. This is why I wanted to write a note inviting you all to the State LPWA Convention (details here www.lpwa.org
thanks) with an additional special note to those of you who may serve as officers in the LPWA. If you are interested in serving I can assure you it is very rewarding. If you have any questions about this please let me know.
Many of us will be stepping down and will need people who have great ideas and some time to help grow and strengthen the State LP.
We have a very impressive location and line up for the
convention this year. Krist Novoselic from Fairvote and 'Nirvana' will be our dinner speaker and we welcome Dr Lark and Yoram Bauman, Ph.D "The Stand Up Economist" for your entertainment.
It has been challenging and rewarding to be an officer and I have memories and friendships that I will value for the rest of my life. So please consider what you can do to guide this party to further success.
I want to thank every one of you for being on this list and I hope to see you around very soon.
Chair, Libertarian Party of Washington StateGrassroots Convention
