Christine signed the bill to eliminate the Electorial College. Once there are enough states signed on with a majority of Electorial votes, the compact would go into effect. There is some talk that the compact would have to be approved by the congress? There could be a constitutional challenge.

State primary? haven't heard of any bill to eliminate that and I'm pretty sure I would have heard about it. There is a move to shorten registration before an election from 15 days to 10 or less before. This is one that should be faught.

The LP, and R's & D's are still in Fed court -Dist court now, on the current "Top 2" primary. We are trying to overturn it on Copyright of the LP name, and right of association. Rachel would probably have more detail on that.

I'm a member of Whatcom Fair Voting here in Bellingham. This is a group that is non-partisan w/ reps from the R's, D's, LP -me, the League, and others. We work on elections issues including state legislation. This fall, Nov, we will have a forum on the Electroial College issue.

I'm also a member of the Whatcom Co. Auditor's Citizen's Election Advisory Committee (CEAC). We helped to choose the current tabulation machines, ballot format, proceedures etc.

Does anyone have any information regarding the effort to get the states primary election laws chaged?  I would love to know where we stand on that one.  Also, if you know who is heading that movement, and perhaps how to contact them, I'd really like that information, too.

Thanks for proving I'm not the only person left who believes in the Constitution, and a free America.
