: Pinnacle Mountain
Little Rock, AR 72211Pinnacle Mtn State Park, Sun 11-14 at 800 am
With it being colder in the am now I thought an 800 am instead of our normal 7am start might help motivate folks to come out :) As usual we will have an optional meal afterwards at some place close by.Where to meet:
Visitor's Center parking lot of Pinnacle Mtn State Park at 800 am Hike distance:
6.5 miles with options for less Hike difficulty:
moderate (parts of the trail are rockyl) Direction's to the Visitor's Center at Pinnacle Mtn State Park:
To reach Pinnacle Mountain State Park, take Exit #9 off I-430 at Little Rock and travel seven miles west on Ark. 10, then go two miles north on Ark. 300.
The visitor's center is past the West Summit Parking Lot. Do not turn into the West Summit Lot (
where the Mtn is) unless you want a shorter hike and plan to meet us at the base of Pinnacle Mtn at 9 am instead of the visitor's Center at 800 am. NOTE:
If you plan to only do the mountain please let me know ahead of time so we will know to look for you at the West Summit Trail. How to get to the Visitor's Center off Hwy 300:
Go past West Summit Parking Lot on Hwy 300 about a half a mile and turn right at the brown sign indicating visitor's center that way. The Visitor's Center is 2-3 miles down on the left side of the road. You will pass the East Summit Parking lot on your right on the way and cross railroads tracks. The sign to the Visitor's Center is a well marked wooden sign. Turn left at the wooden sign and go up a hill about .5 miles. Park in the first parking lot by the Ouachita Trail sign which will be to your left. Restrooms/water:
The Visitor's Center has a restroom, a water fountain and a coke machine. You can also buy snacks in the gift shop. There is also a restroom at the West Summit Parking Lot (not as nice as the Visitor's Center one), a water fountain, and a coke machine. There are no facilities at the East Summit Lot. What to bring:
Water bottle, wear hiking shoes or sturdy athletic shoes, water bottle, a snack/and or a friend :) A hat and or sunglasses is also recommended. Estimated time:
hiking on trail averages 2 miles an hour. If you plan to do the entire hike estimate 3-4 hours. Distance breakdown (total 6.5 miles): Ouachita Trail (starts at Visitor's center):
1.25 miles one way to East Summit Parking Lot where the Base Trail begins. We will be crossing a road with traffic right before the East Summit Parking Lot.
Base Trail to West Summit Parking lot:
1.25 miles one way
Terrain: rocky, but not as much as the Ouachita Trail and Summit Trail West Summit Trail to top of Pinnacle Mtn:
1.5 miles round trip
Terrain: very rocky with large boulders towards the end.
It is a "strenuous"
fairly vertical hike. If you only want to hike Pinnacle Mtn you could meet us at the West Summit Parking lot at 9am instead. Please text or call me[masked] if that's what you plan to do so we will know to look for you there instead of the Visitor's Center.
Return trip: Base Trail to East Summit Parking Lot (back to OT):
1.25 miles OT from East Summit Parking Lot to Visitor's Center:
Total distance for entire hike: 6.5 miles
I look forward to hopefully seeing some of you Sunday!
Peace ~ Kimberly (a.k.a. "Bflygirl")
