Your Geek Is Showing II

Come celebrate all the things!!!

July 13th is a day to Embrace Your Inner Geekness so we should be having an amazing time. I have reserved a mighty hall of meeting (the clubhouse at my Apartment complex) for us to have all of the funs.

We will have tables for games, a kitchen full of yummies, and a cozy area to relax while watching awesome movies (Campy, geeky, or whatever!)

The pool is adjacent to the clubhouse and has an area for grilling and tons of seating. Literally, tons.

This is our event so let's make it fantastic. I'm thinking we could potluck it up and bring tasty drinks and snacks to share.

DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED TO BRING ANYTHING except your amazing selves and a desire to hang out with some of the best people anywhere: GEEKS! :D

UPDATE: Parking is only available in NON-COVERED spots. Fair warning that they do patrol that and love the hell out of towing transgressors. Otherwise, park wherever there's a spot.

I get access at noon, so I've given myself an hour for quick set-up. I am looking forward to having all of you amazing people here expect that the universe will explode from all of the awesome.

That was an awesome night. We don't do this more often why?

    • Aaditya

I like it but your depravity is limited by the cards you get

      1 · July 15, 2013

    • Shani

Yes, it was a lot of fun, and I'm ready to chip in some food and more beer next time! And until a 12 hour epic CAH tournament is arranged, anyone is welcome to play it for 3 hours next Tuesday night.

Thanks to Eric and Co. for hosting a great event. Hope the folks who played in my Witches Brew game enjoyed it. Hopefully next time we'll be able to stay longer sans kids. It was nice meeting new people and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Hell yeah that game was awesome. Hope you had a blast at the pool!

Quick thing I need to mention, I already did on the facebook group but... I left my MST3K DVDs there, and I have reason to believe someone jacked the Cathulu Dice game from my Zombie Dice cup.

    • Darrel M.

Library Tuesday would be a good convenient time for me.

      July 15, 2013

    • Drew K.

Yeah that'll work, I'll see you tomorrow and we'll switch them back round.

I had an excellent time! It was great to see everyone.

    2 · July 15, 2013

Great event. Many thanks to Eric S. for hosting. Let's all donate some money and do it more often!

    5 · July 14, 2013

    • Douglas Allen P.

It's moneystuff. You can't make that exciting with a troupe of dancing girls juggling tiny monkeys over a giant lake of molten lava while flying saucers put on an airshow overhead - not even if the flying saucers drop dinosaur paratroopers which fight giant robots to the death!

      4 · July 15, 2013

    • Brian G.

I believe you can. We don't have to go to that length, but dancing girls/Eric would get all my money thrown at them.

      2 · July 15, 2013

Thank you to everyone for making this such a great event!

Great! I met lots of interesting and like minded people.

This will be my first geek event ever (I'm shy and socially awkward at first and chickened out about going to the lib on Tues) so I'm anxiously excited. I might make an R2-D2 cake. Just depends on what time I come out. Frosting takes so long. Might have to put it off until the next party.

    4 · July 13, 2013

Definitely nothing to fear in this group

I had so much fun! I never really broke out of my shell but maybe after a couple more meet ups, I'll be more outgoing.

      July 12, 2013

I can't be king geek because I'm not a fan of anime or Dr Who. Anyway I figured I couldn't be the only Doug Loves Movies fan out of this many geeks.

      July 12, 2013

  • Eric

I plan on bringing my Munchkin stuff, and also Eclipse. Eclipse is a great 4X space game. We'll be looking for four more players if anyone else wants to try it. It's really fun, and looks a lot more complicated than it really is.

With just over 24 hours to go, will the Geek Club be able to find enough additional guests to overflow the clubhouse? Tune in to our next exciting episode to find out!

    July 12, 2013

Alright I know I said I'd bring food but thinking about it, I'm on food stamps so it'd have to be dirt cheap. So instead I'll be bringing my PS2 and games. A lot of sports titles but I do still have some fun gaming gems. Only one controller though so if someone has a PS2 controller or three they wouldn't mind sharing...

Consider your geek club cherry popped. I would say popped like a zit on prom night but we are all nerds so our prom nights mostly consisted of doctor who marathons and D&D sessions

Geek club virgin here as well.

Does anyone have a copy of Cards Against Humanity... I would be very much down for it.

    2 · July 8, 2013

Apples for people who don't want to be horrible, and cards for people like me :-)

      1 · July 11, 2013

    • Brian G.

I would like to respond to Douglas. Stephanie was not a victim of autocorrect. She was merely clarifying that the "lube" for CAH was alcohol.

  • Shani

Could there be some sort of rundown on what people might tentatively be bringing so we don't all bring the same thing? Although I'm guessing not many people would complain if there were 10 pounds of bacon brownies or 6 kinds of cheese dip.

    2 · July 11, 2013

    • Shani

This is kind of a rehash of Stephanie's question, I realize.

Also, all: 7/17 is Potluck and Game Night at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church. Bring a dish to share and some games. I might have a table of pyramids.....or not.

I would come, but on Wednesday I have a 12 hour day to work that starts at 6pm, thanks for the invite anyway

I might just make that if I'm not collapsing at the end of the work day. Looking up books and opening study rooms is grueling work. Let's hope nobody needs help with their research paper.
