I love Ender's Game. It's one of the best books I've ever read. I'm interested to see Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff, but I'm just not sure he's the right guy for the job. First, he'll need to channel some Han Solo and he hasn't done much of that in his last decade or two of work. Graff hates what he's doing to Ender and hates himself for doing it and copes with sarcasm and irreverence. I'm not questioning Ford's ability, simply that he hasn't done this kind of role lately. Second, he's too thin.

Hollywood is treading on sacred ground in a way, I don't think I've experienced before. I like Starship Troopers, Batman, Lord of the Rings, and other touchstones as much as the next geek. But Ender's Game isn't just another touchstone, it's great literature. I haven't been impressed with what Hollywood usually does to fine literature...
