English Country Dance
We gather on Thursdays for classes at the Winchester Cultural Center, managed by the Clark County Parks & Recreation Department.
Please note that the English Country Dancing starts at 6 pm, sharp, so please consider an arrival time of 5:45 pm, to allow time for whatever administrative needs arise for this beginning night of the class.
If you identify with Elizabeth Bennett or Fitzwilliam Darcy and see yourself dancing with grace and elegance to the beautiful music of long ago, all you need are lessons from Marsden Macrae, and you will soon find yourself gliding across the dance floor with your partner in the most romantic of social settings. Though English country dance appeared in the 16th Century and entertained Queen Elizabeth I, it is still around today, because people love it so and because elegance and romance never are out of style. Note that one of our annual events is a Jane Austen Dance held in May and a Zombie Jane Austen dance that is typically held in September or October.
The Arts Center is located at 3130 South Mcleod Drive in Las Vegas. The nearest major cross-streets are Mcleod and East Desert Inn Road.
We will be in Room WC Room A.
Note that on Google Maps, the address is listed as the "Winchester Community Center".
The walk-in charge is $5 per session. Beginner dancers are welcome!
