Have you joined a meetup or been part of a book club before?

Have not joined a meetup but have been part of a book club in the distant past.

What is the last book you read, or are currently reading?

I am currently reading "A King's Ransom" by Sharon Kay Penman who is one of my top 2 authors and have read every single one of her books. Previously I read "Frances Stuart-Girl on a Golden Coin" by Marci Jefferson. I have also recently read Deborah Harkness: A DIscovery of Witches and Shadow of Night - which are two of a trilogy and am anxiously awaiting the third books. If you have not read these books, I very highly recommend them. She had me up all night reading in suspense. I could go on and on about books I've read but these I strongly recommend.

What is your favorite book genre?

My most favorite genre is historical fiction but only by authors who have done their research like Sharon Kay Penman and Margaret George. I also have a deep rooted love for fantasy, having read JRR Tolkien starting at 14 yrs old. I have also read Terry Brooks, George RR Martin and many others. I also got into the Vampire genre with The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and then of course, who doesn't enjoy the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer?

What is your favorite book?

I don't know if I can pick just one - probably The Hobbit and subsequent Lord of the Rings Trilogy. And any book by Sharon Kay Penman.

Who is your favorite author?

Sharon Kay Penman - could you tell? I also love George RR Martin - have read the first 4 books in his Game of Thrones series at least three times years before he even became mainstream on HBO. I also really was into Robert Jordan, also having read the first 6 or so books of his multiple times until I got tired of waiting 2 years (at least) for the next book to come out. I believe the series is now complete, despite his passing, and would like to start over from the beginning. I actually have the first ten books in unread 1st edition. So, that's that. I don't really know what else to write except I am new to LV and am looking to meet new people that share my love of books.

Hi. My name is Heather. I moved here from Lake Havasu AZ but am a Portland OR native. I love fantasy/sci-fi but a close 2nd is historical fiction. I also like romance, mystery and spy-intrigue. I have 2 dogs: Pearl (blue heeler) and Holly (Chihuahua)

What Heather is saying about this Meetup Group

I am a new member - only a couple of meet-ups so far but everyone I have met is really, very nice. And it is so wonderful to hang out w/ women that are interested in the same things as me. Not only books but just hanging out w/ girls and chatting about life and men and friends. I am new to Vegas and it is so hard to make friends in a new city and I feel very accepted w/ this group. It is wonderful to make new friends! A special thanks to Lesta for organizing everything! :-) -UPDATE : I am now a DEDICATED member and had a really good time. And as always, a big thank you to Lesta for being a great organizer and always looking for other activities for the ladies to participate in and enjoy. Looking forward to Star Trek and Comic Con!
