A Laid Back Lively Christmas Cookie and Ornament Exchange

"Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given - -when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes." - Joan Winmill Brown"

Huzzah! Christmas is almost here! One of Andrew's family's most beloved Christmas traditions is getting together (There are only 4 of us, mind you) and baking TONS of Christmas cookies. Like...a dozen different cookies. Fun, but tons of work, really. So when I heard of a cookie exchange party...well, that sounds wonderful! And the timing of this party makes it perfect for you to put out AMAZING trays of incredibly diverse cookies for Christmas (your friends and family will think you are a baking goddess).

I learned that there are even rules for these types of parties- who knew?

http://www.cookie-exchange.com/rules_of_the_cookie_exchange.html

So let's see....what works for us?

  1. All cookies should be homemade and baked.

  2. No plain chocolate chip cookies, cookie mixes, or no bakes.

  3. Please bring (what do you think???) 3 dozen total cookies.

  4. Arrange cookies in a basket or platter! Bring a large container to carry away your cookies.

  5. Bring recipe to the party- or post it on this page beforehand.

  6. RSVP and let us know what type of cookies you are planning on baking - let's try not to have any duplicate recipes.

  7. If you don't have time to bake, or have burnt your cookies, but still want to attend, you must go to a real bakery and buy 3 dozen yummy cookies.

In addition to your cookies, bring a gift wrapped ornament to exchange. Let's try to keep the price range between $10-12. :)

I loved doing this. Hope we make it an annual tradition. Everyone's cookies were amazing and it was great to be able to take home a variety to share with other folks too!

I'm sorry for the late response, I hope you found someone. You are very out of the way for me. Maybe next time I can help.

Hi ladies- no worries if you weren't able to pick up an ornament. And if you didn't make cookies- feel free to come for the company and maybe pick up a snack or 5 dollar pizza on the way over. LOL. ;)

Beautiful sugar cookies are A-okay! I'm going to call tibs on Tea Time Tassies. Andrew's mother introduced them to me and they are delicious! http://www.myadventuresinthecountry.com/2011/12/27/grams-tea-time-tassies/
Oh- and homemade ornaments- for sure! Sound delightful!
