Happy Birthday, Everyone! The Laid Back Lively Ladies has officially been on Meetup for an entire year! And what a wonderful year it has been!! Let's take a peak- shall we?
We've have over 650 Members and we have had 68 meetups! We have celebrated birthdays and a wedding. We've decided that we love Mexican train and Bunco! We've read books that have made us laugh, cringe and grow. Oh- and we had a FABULOUS apple party, in addition to apple picking! We must make that an annual event. We got tired when we went to see the midnight opening of the Hunger Games! And one of our favorites- we took 20 ladies and did high tea at the Miramont Castle in Manitou!
We even celebrated Thanksgiving together!
So what do we want to do this year? Let's have a potluck and decide what our "purpose" is this year. What type of meetups do we definitely want to get on the calendar?
Do we have any intentions with the group?
-Perhaps we would like to pick out a non-profit to support this year.
-Do we want to do any joint events with other meetup groups? Perhaps we want to cook with the cooking meetup in Colorado Springs? Or join a drum circle with the Shamanic meetup in Woodland Park.
-Maybe we want to share a community garden plot- or create an entire community garden: http://ppugardens.org/community_gardens
-We could create art or make a quilt together.
-Do we want to take a belly dancing class together? Learn yoga in the park?
The ideas are endless...so open your mind, heart, and ears.... and bring something yummy. ;)
Also- reflect a bit on Meetup's mission: Meetup's mission is to revitalize local community and help people around the world self-organize. Meetup believes that people can change their personal world, or the whole world, by organizing themselves into groups that are powerful enough to make a difference.
Perhaps together we want to make a mission statement for the "Laid Back Lively Ladies of the Front Range." We have definitely built a community (HOOORRAAYYYY)- now what would we like to do with it?
