Painting with a Twist!

Hi Ladies!

Our next meetup will be at Painting with a Twist, where we can sip wine and learn to paint!  It will be on August 14, 2012 from 6:30-9:00pm.  Painting will begin promptly at 7:00pm, so make sure to come early enough to have some hors d'oeuvres and some wine.  It is BYOB style, so bring some finger foods and/or bottle of wine to share.  The painting we will work on is located at this link.

It is up to you as attendees of this meetup to reserve your spot, as classes fill up quickly, so make sure that in addition to RSVPing here at meetup, you reserve your spot with Painting with a Twist.  When reserving, make sure to say you are part of the Ladies of the Brazos Valley!

The cost to participate is $35 for all painting supplies, canvas, and instruction.  You will pay the fee at the time of reservation.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Izzie

I totally disagree! This is about FUN! We are not trying to be professional artists here. I actually have zero artistic ability in me and this is just a fun way to get out and try something new! We are girls that just wanna have fun! This is about getting out, making new friends, socializing, and having a good time! I've heard nothing but good things about Painting with a Twist and I can't wait to go!

I disagree Victoria. I am an artist (not professionally). I am not going to be able to attend, but if I could, I would. Not everyone wants to be a professional artist, or even have some in-depth training. Some people just want to "get their feet wet", and would rather do it in nice, relaxing, social setting. This is the first I've heard of this, but it sounds like it would be fun!

Lastly, I would like to extend the invitation to you to any of our other meetups if this particular one does not suit you. We would be more than happy to get to know you at a different event. Thanks so much, Izzie :)

    Hi Victoria,
I appreciate the comment you've left regarding our upcoming meetup. Painting with a Twist is a positive socializing experience, with some fun painting thrown in. I understand the concern you are expressing about not receiving formal training in painting at an establishment such as this, but I like the idea of getting a group of women from the Brazos Valley together to chat, drink some wine, and enjoy each other's company, especially when its patronizing a new local business.

You're joking, right? (Please tell me you are??!!) There are so many opportunities to take real art classes, it is painful to think anyone would sign up for this. I'm a professional artist (painter) and I can tell you that if you have any genuine interest in learning painting, this type of "class" is a bad joke. Its like if you said you wanted to learn how to cook, so you sign up for lessons taught by someone who's only experience cooking is working the french fry machine at McDonalds.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
