Shadowrun 5E - SRM5A-02 Critics Choice - part TWO

  • February 27, 2014 · 6:30 PM

This is a two part event - please RSVP for both sessions OR sign up for GM Pete's weekend session instead (he will be covering the same material in one long session). Part ONE can be found here: http://www.meetup.com/LadyMonsterSlayers/events/164599622/

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It’s been nearly twenty years since disaster struck the city of Chicago, transforming it into an urban hellscape, and some people now believe it’s suffered enough. The Governor of Illinois has initiated and ambitious plan called Project: Takeback to reclaim the feral urban jungle. What’s more, he’s put money into the effort, and that’s the language every corporation on Earth understands. Suddenly, the race is on as the megacorps scramble to claim pieces of the Windy City. They’ll be butting up against the dangers of the Containment Zone and each other, so they’re going to need all sorts of deniable assets. The shadows of Chicago are coming back to life.

In Critics Choice the Runners are hired for a simple in & out data grab...yeah, simple...famous last words of High Stakes Jacques. Never heard of him? There's a reason why Chummer. Stay frosty.

You still have dibs on the Mage goggles, as far as I'm concerned. :)

So why are we in the slag again?

Actually, Pete, sneak up didn't fail as it didn't get further than a couple of comments of "I want to sneak closer"…no roll no fail. You all actually had the drop on the gangers...if the team had taken advantage of it. Sneak flew out the window when the first person in the IP posted up and shot rather than giving sneakery team mates a chance to get into position. OR everyone held action until the Rigger got something bigger than a microdrone into position to do something. OR everyone held until the Mage pulled his spirit in for recon...or was in position to astrally perceive the situation. OR…the list goes on.

Captain Hindsight would be a great Mentor Spirit 

And yep…a bit of tactical conversation is in order for the team…but everyone is a bit rusty. It’s a good chance to remember those combat rules. 

But if folks want to go in with guns blazing…I’m happy to accommodate.

In looking forward to picking up where we left off next session: this conversation needs to wait until combat is complete and I'm hoping to see it take place in character.

Just an FYI...we have two full-on Riggers signed up. I'm fine with that but wanted you (Deidre & Greg) to know in case you want to chat about how to divide/conquer responsibilities. Though I suppose you can roll in with two Roadmasters and shred everything in your paths.

Alternatively, I'm open to some character adjustments if either has an interest in rebuilding to shift focus.

Can I roll an alternative character? Hmm what character type did no one take at all.:-)

For this mission we currently have 2 Riggers, 2 Adepts (one gunslinger, one close combat) and one sniper gun bunny signed up. Yeon is planning a Shaman/Face. Currently no Decker/TM but that skill set is the easiest to hire as an NPC. You are welcome to roll up an alt character ;) I'm not particular about party "balance" so don't worry about it unless it's something you want to do. This group is rather unbalanced regardless of the character make up ;p

If it helps, i'm planning on showing with a shaman/face, specializing in illusions.
