13th Annual Lonestar Round Up - Expo Center

  • Apr 5, 2014 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Same drill as last year. This meetup is part one of two. Feel free to attend one or both. The cars at this show are limited to 1963 and earlier and there are a huge number of them. Additionally, there are a bunch of people that dress the part since there appears to be a lifestyle that goes with the cars. There are numerous vendors and events like mini-bike races as well.

This is also only the first part of the car show. At around 6:00pm, many of the cars move to S. Congress (SOCO) and parade up and down while they grab some food and listen to some tunes at the Continental Club, but that will be another meetup.

This event makes for good shots if you like activity, portraiture, or vehicle.

There is no particular end time for this. Shoot till you don't feel like shooting, your camera battery dies, or your SD card fills up. I will likely shoot for a few hours and then go rest and eat before heading to SOCO.

Parking is free, but the event is $15. I just purchase the tickets when I arrive.
Last year the Expo Center entrance on Decker Lake Rd. from FM973 had no line and parking close to the Luedecke Arena.

I will wait at the metal bridge near the main entrance until about 11:15 and then start walking.

Hey Dave, I hate that I was late getting there and missed meeting you and the others. Regardless, I appreciate that you shared this opportunity, because it helped put a boot in my butt to get out there and shoot!

I have to say, this was my first "Lonestar Round Up" and I was impressed as well as overwhelmed with the number of cars, people and 'things' to photograph! Overall, I ended up taking over 200 pictures! (Now to import and process all of them...)

I'm actually going to be there with a pinup model. If you see my silly black driver's cap chasing after a girl in leopard print feel free to say hi!
