Diane - did you post the information for the webinar? I didn't see it but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Susie - thanks again for sharing your home with us!

Sad that I missed it but I am feeling better today. Have you've chosen another date and book? Would like to read The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion by Christopher Germer.

Thanks, Diane, for clarifying my suggestion. So plan on viewing the Goddess video and then discussion at my home - N11 W24058 River Lane. My home phone is[masked]-0773. We are just south of I94 and west of Hwy. J on a dead end road - River Lane - first house on your right. Call if this is not clear. OK - I'll serve something gluten-free and organic chocolate-y, and have coffee/tea available. You will LOVE the video - Joseph Campbell was an amazing man and brings so much excitement to the subject. I look forward to seeing all of you then!

I think she means instead of meeting at my office on the same date and time...read chapteron Goddesses, see tape, and discuss. Can we have desserts of the chocolatey kind.

Well, I tried picking up the book a number of times. It just does not do it for me, but I am delighted that so many of you are enjoying it. Susie, thank you for your generous offer, but I think I will pass. I plan to attend our scheduled meeting and will enjoy hearing the thoughts and ideas from the "myth lovers" in the crowd. Vicki

To all planning to attend the July 30 discussion of The Power of Myth, I would like to offer an alternative. First, I would like to suggest that we focus on one chapter of the book, and since we are all women, The Gift of the Goddess - Diane's suggestion from her earlier post. There is more than enough "meat" for discussion in that chapter. Secondly, I happen to have the entire series on tape from back in the 90's, and just re-watched the VCR tape of that chapter which is absolutely wonderful. I'd like to share it by inviting the group to my home to watch it (about 1 hour) followed by a discussion. Let me know what you think about this - If you all agree, I can follow-up with details. I live in Waukesha, about 5 minutes from Lake Country Wellness. Looking forward to your response.

Well ladies I am thoroughly enjoying this book. Some of the myths I get, some are new stories. I am just reading for fun. Maybe I am a mythology nerd as well. Google any references that intrigue you and let go of the rest. Skip chapters that bore you but read about the divine feminine. (I cheated and read it first). If you don't get through the whole book, that's okay too (like last time). But as Patti suggested, think of a book you'd like to tackle next. In fact Vicki, I'd love it if you would pick out the next book.
    Peace,
    D

Ok, Ladies, I am in trouble. I have been trying to read this book, but I am not a scholarly historian. Although Joseph and Bill know exactly what they are talking about, I don't know the stories. I get the concept of myths, but I think I would have to be a student of Joseph to understand everything he is saying. Sorry....I am ready to give up. Please let me know how you are doing.

Hi Vicki: Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I'm just at the beginning of the book and was thinking "who's on first?" But I'm going to continue to read it for a while to see what more I can get out of it. Choose to do what you need to do :-) Meanwhile all of us will need to think of another book for our next book review.
