Biking with Beanzie ~ 20/40/60/80/101 Mile Options (Public Event)

Biking with Beanzie is a recreational ride hosted by the Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb. Profits from the ride support the Kishwaukee Bike Pathway as well as other projects within DeKalb County. The route consists of primarily flat rural roads with some rolling terrain; ride options of 20, 40, 60, 80, or 101 miles are available. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information.

All ride routes are provided with rest and water stops; bagels, fruit, beverages and a variety of other food options will be provided. This ride is easy to navigate with well-marked routes, route maps, and cue sheets; SAG wagon support will be available to those riders requiring assistance. Post ride activities include access to the DHS showers, towels (for a nominal fee), ice cold watermelon and other tasty treats.

Registration
$22.00 by July 5th, $30.00 thereafter; those registered by July 5th are guaranteed a T-shirt. Register online through Active.com ($3.25 fee); more registration options as well as general ride info is available on the Biking with Beanzie home page.

Meetup
Scott and I plan on arriving at the high school between 6:00 and 6:15 am and heading out on the route when it opens at 6:30 am. On Saturday evening, I will email my cell phone number to all those who have RSVPed "Yes" by that time - if you want to hook-up pre- or post- ride, give me a buzz when you're at the high school and we'll let you know how to find the group. If you call during ride time and I don't answer, I'm on the bike!

It was a great ride! It really was starting to warm up by the time I finished. When I got back in my car a little after 12 it was already 89. Great ride though! Lots of rest stops, which was nice and love the lack of traffic on the roads.

Really really great setup. Tons of reat stop / water stations so its a great route for people to perhaps test themselves. I did the century. Last 20 were pretty windy.

I had a section that was like that. I'd look down and had moved 0.1 miles. Felt like 10. It felt a lot hotter out than I was expecting as well.

Last big ride before RAGBRAI - going for 80... maybe 101?!?

Think 60 would be good - all depends on the weather conditions. Two weeks out I'd try 80.

Hey guys.....don't over do it one week before your big ragbrai adventure :). Lots of training plans suggest this. Just a thought.

I plan on riding to Crystal Lake to see the bike races that day.
Enjoy DeKalb..... I've ridden the MS150 twice there and really enjoyed the flat farm roads :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
