2013 Fat Tire Ride (Public Event)

The Fat Tire Ride of Lake Geneva is a recreational bicycle ride on paved roads around Geneva Lake, Wisconsin and benefits the Walworth County Alliance for Children. The ride begins at 8:30 am at Champ's Sports Bar & Grill in the city of Lake Geneva and consists of 10 designated stops at sponsoring taverns. Proceeding at your own pace, the ride is approximately 21.5 miles and the "rest" stops are evenly spaced. Participating businesses are Champ's, Shifters, The Owl Tavern, Gordy's Boat House, Chuck's Lake Shore Inn, Harpoon Willies, Lucke's Cantina, Pier 290, Bar 55 and Mars Resort. The ride is held rain or shine and travels through Lake Geneva, Fontana and Williams Bay with great views of Geneva Lake and Lake Como.

Participants receive a map of the route, a pig roast dinner ticket and a general raffle ticket; you may also participate in the costume contest, which you must register for in advance or on the day of the event. T-shirts are guaranteed to all riders who are pre-registered by August 26, 2013.

Casket (which I'll mount on my rear carrier) is almost done. Won't need bottles or cans. Getting a 6 pack of Fat Tire Beer bottles to mount upside down in the casket on posts. Hopefully, the FUNERAL flags will be done tomorrow.
    Making a dozen or so.
    Who is in on this?

As Pam just reminded me: bring your head & tail lights! We need them to be on to complete the look!

I'm just hoping it doesn't rain as predicted :-(. Thunderstorm for mid-afternoon.

How do I prepare? SOS!!!! :)) I guess I will buy my ticket there unless advised otherwise. Should I wear a black T-shirt? Are we still doing the funeral procession? Anything else I need to look into? What an exciting event! I've hiked around the lake a couple of times. I must diversify! Riding with beer stops along the way sounds great :)

Oh, and if anyone else has empty beer/liquor bottles/cans they can bring, bring them in case we need them.

    September 3, 2013

  • Kathi T.

Marc will be bringing everything EXCEPT t-shirts. Marc, if you need help, let me know.

    September 3, 2013

  • Kathi T.

FYI for all attending - no pressure to take part in the "dress up" but you are certainly welcome to do so!

    September 3, 2013

  • Kathi T.

Ok, we are in - I am officially on the hunt for some cheap black T-shirts for Scott and I.

Marc, I assume you will bring whatever we all need to attach the flags to the bikes? Pam had a great suggestion for the casket - fill it with "dead" (empty) liquor bottles and beer cans! Would certainly be within the Fat Tire theme!

We will start saving ours and being on the lookout for others in case we want to go this route - others are welcome to do so as well. Sometimes you just have to take one for the team... ;-)

Hi everyone! Pam and I were on a ride a couple of weeks ago. A police officer announced over his speaker that we shouldn't be running stop signs. I thought of a funeral procession, where with us funeral flags on the handlebars and possibly a burly with a toy Halloween casket. All of us could get black T-shirts to wear possibly with black top hats. If the 18 of the CBG joined us, we'd have very funny funeral procession.(sic). Any thoughts?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
