Weekly Wednesday Evening Ride (North Shore Bike Path - 20 Miles Out-and-Back)

This ride will continue year round as weather permits. Pace will be in the 13 mph range, give-or-take. For your safety as well as that of those around you, please come equipped with front and back lights.

We will ride the full length of this asphalt and crushed stone rail-to-trail from Mundelein to Lake Forest - 20 miles round trip. If you're looking to expand your trail options, this is the trail to check out - it runs parallel to Route 176 and connects to the Des Plaines River and Middlefork Forest Preserve Trails, the Skokie Valley Bikeway, and ends at the Robert McClory Trail.

Bonus: This trail passes within feet of the local Dairy Dream - a nice treat during the summer months as we near the end of our ride.

On Tuesday evening, I will email my cell phone number to all those who have RSVPed "Yes" by that time - if you are not present AND have not contacted me by 6:00 pm on Wednesday, I will assume you are not coming. As always, if you RSVP "Yes" but your plans change, please kindly update your RSVP to "No" on the Meetup site before the scheduled ride time.

We will meet in the northeast parking lot of Carmel CHS (turn off of Route 176 onto Carmel Parkway - first parking lot on your left). As this is a weekday evening and time is tight for most members, please be prompt and ready to ride at 6:00 pm.

The group was great. Special thanks to Erick G. for staying to make sure the last chicken made it back to the coup alright.

I think I'll try to make it out Sunday. Longer rides?

      August 21, 2013

Erick, we usually try to do longer rides on either Saturday or Sunday of each weekend. We may hook-up with a public event - like this Sunday's Bike and Chow - or schedule our own ride. We try to get in a minimum of at least 35 miles, usually more.
