Prairie Trail ~ Crystal Lake to Richmond ~ - 30 Miles Out-and-Back

Join us for a ride on the Prairie Trail from Crystal Lake to Richmond. This leg of the trail is a combination of paved and gravel surfaces; we have ridden it on cruisers, mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes so your set of wheels should work just fine. Pace will be 11-14 mph; if everyone is feeling spry in Richmond, we can discuss whether we'd like to venture further north, possibly hopping on the Hebron Trail.

On Friday evening, I will email my cell phone number to all those who have RSVPed "Yes" by that time - if you are not present AND have not contacted me by 8:30 am on Saturday, I will assume you are not coming. As always, if you RSVP "Yes" but your plans change, please kindly update your RSVP to "No" on the Meetup site before the scheduled ride time.

Meetup
Park and access the trail in Crystal Lake at the northeast corner of Sterns Woods, located on Hillside Road just west of Terra Cotta Road. See the Prairie Trail brochure for a map and additional trail information. Please arrive a few minutes early so you are ready to ride at 8:30 am.

Yay for staying dry and bonus miles! Temp was nearly perfect for me. And now...a nap!

Marc.... Big Texan is in Algonquin.... When I do this trail I start in Algonquin not far from there.... Go to Ringwood and back.... Never stopped there after the ride.... It is, however, my lunch stop on my hill route from Long Grove to Algonquin and back....

Just realized.... You were mentioning the Big Texan as another option.... Not confusing the two.... LOL@me....

I'll probably cross post it with CBG on a Sunday at some point this summer.... I really like this one and work Saturdays.... But when I do it, we start in Algonquin and ride to Ringwood and back with a food stop in Crystal Lake on the return trip.... Either BBQ or ice cream.... There's never room for ice cream after the BBQ....

Great group ride. Chilly, but the wind wasn't awful. Beautiful April weather....oh ya, it's MAY!

And if anyone is REALLY ambitious, after this ride can head to Aurora for a 25 mile CBC ride at 2pm!

If you guys are looking for a good post ride meal, there is a run down looking BBQ shack on Terra Cotta in Crystal Lake and an AMAZING little ice cream place downtown called Kaleidescoops....

Last weather report iffy. Definitely chilly, probably windy, and possible rain. Wouldn't you love a Star Trek transporter to beam us to New Zealand !

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
