Parade the Circle is this Saturday, and I've been charging batteries and reading articles on backlighting so I'll be ready to take pictures from a new location this year. With photography on my mind it occurred to me that this would be a good topic for our next gathering. We've discussed imagery before in a general way, but we've not really focused on photography.
How many of you take pictures on a regular basis to use on your blog? Sometimes I take pics for a specific blog post, other times I dig through my archives to find a shot that will support the subject matter. Having a variety of photos on hand makes this easier.
Are you taking as many pictures as you should? I have a nice dSLR for planned shots, and keep a small Canon SD1000 in my backpack just to have on hand for spur of the moment shots. Of course you don't need anything fancy. The best camera is the one you have with you when you need it. If nothing else you probably have a cell phone with a camera, so take advantage of that and take more pictures. This month let's discuss photography and ways to build up a portfolio of images to have on hand. Don't forget to bring your camera!
The Barking Spider Tavern is in the heart of University Circle behind the Alumni House on Juniper Rd. If the weather is nice we'll sit outside, if not we'll sit in the back room.
Here are a few things to know:
The Spider doesn't sell food, but you can bring your own pizza or snacks (excluding chips and pretzels, which they do sell.)
They offer an array of beverages including beer, wine, pop, juice, coffee, tea, iced-tea and bottle water. Please don't bring your own coffee.
There is a new parking lot on Bellflower behind the Spider. Look at this Google map for parking options. (You can park in the Coffeehouse lot.)
The Barking Spider is cash only, but they have an ATM in the back room. Wifi is available through Case Western Reserve University using the username and password "caseguest."
We hope to see you there!
