Mirror Lake State Park Overnight Camping Trip

Join us as we do an overnight camping ride to Mirror Lake State Park. Just three miles from Wisconsin Dells, you`ll find a picturesque lake surrounded by sandstone bluffs. I have a group campsite reserved. Mirror Lake campground offers toilets, showers, and the campsite has the important fire pit for the night time ghost stories and such. This is limited to 15 people. You'll need a tent, sleeping bag and bring your own food. If you have a camp stove, bring it along.

The park has hiking, swimming and fishing. Check in is Saturday at 3 and checkout is Sunday at 3. We'll meet at Perkins at 9 for a breakfast and then it's kickstands up at 10 AM. We'll take the letter roads west of Madison to the Park. It will be a great ride and a great overnight trip. The only thing you'll need is a daily park pass which costs less than $10. And this can be purchased at the park.

If you want to join us for a campfire cookout and do some star gazing at night the group campsite number is 306. All are welcome. Bring a folding chair and something you want to roast over a campfire. Bring whatever you want to drink too.

We are in luck! Saturday August 2nd will be a Universe in the Park Night at Mirror Lake State Park. For those unfamiliar with this it is an astronomy lecture/star gazing session put on by the University of Wisconsin Department of Astronomy. From their website:

"Universe in the Park", established in 1996, is an extremely popular outreach program of the Department of Astronomy at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. "UitP" is predicated on a very simple idea, that the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. A typical "UitP" session begins just after sunset with a 20-30 minute talk and slide show about astronomy. At the conclusion of the talk (if the sky is clear) we set up one of the two moderate aperture (8"-10") telescopes and provide park visitors the opportunity to view whatever astronomical objects are available. http://www.astro.wisc.edu/uitp/
