July 4th at Excelsior Commons ON THE LAKE The Wolverines Big Band starts at 6

NOTE:  Please do not to RSVP to say you are NOT GOING (unless you have already RSVPd 'Going" and are changing your mind)

We will return to this venue for another great celebration of the 4th of July!  I will get there early to spread some big blankets on the ground to TRY to save room for our members and friends.  And as usual I will bring some special treats for the early arrivers.  (I went there earlier today to set set up some blankets and some chairs to hold some spots on the baseball outfield )

The Excelsior Commons, and the ball fields next to it, are the scene of one of the areas BEST firewroks displays.  And an ANNUAL visit by the acclaimed Wolverines Big Band from 6pm to 945pm is ALWAYS well attended (ends just before the fireworks begin)  Fire works about 10pm or 1010pm.

NOTE  Due to unbelievable congestion AFTER the fireworks show I always park some distance from the event and WALK to the location.  Call me and I will make some suggestions.   That way, after the fireworks, while EVERYONE ELSE is stuck in traffic for an hour you/we can walk past the standstill traffic and to our cars so that we can exit the town easily.

Park near Cty Rd 19 and walk the five or six blocks in order to be able to leave the area quicker.

Please call me if you are coming and i/we will TRY to save some spaces for you. [masked]  Edward

Day 277 of The Lockout Against Minnesota Orchestra Musicians, Their Families, Restaurants and Parking Ramps in the Orchestra Hall Area, Our Music Students, and Friends Who Love Music.

..... reposted from a MN Orchestra member

I am sorry, could not make it tonight as too tuckered out to deal with late night traffic. Perhaps next year..

Given that our esteemed MN orchestra members are still on lockout status, I think their performance might be in doubt, no? Or would they play anyway?

    July 3, 2013

They have played a few benefit concerts. However, these are not under the auspices of the MNSO management that locked them out. Day 200+ of lockout status and the musicians have to look elsewhere and play as subs for other orchestras to make ends meet.

Someone just told me that's what happened in Plymouth Music in the Park on Tues.....it was a sub orchestra playing...but they were good. They have an air show here in Excelsior now that's pretty cool....since MN Orchestra not here ! Still a fun time here at Excelsior Commons! Good crowd

I won't RSVP, but I will try to stop by and see ya'll. I am going to be at the Excelsior Commons, anyway. I go every year. I have a sister who lives next door to this park. Will try to stop by if I can. "Unbelievable congestion" is a good way to describe the "after" show!

Oh yes, indeed we 'can' Or bottle.. Or box.. Or cooler(s). I always do. It is my intention to try to sit in front of the orchestra stage, right of center as you face the stage, about 12 to 15 people from the stage. Call if you want when u arrive. [masked]
