An Introduction...

My name is Kristin and I have just assumed leadership of this meetup group. A little bit about myself, I am 27, recently married, I enjoy traveling and most importantly I love wine!

About a year ago my husband, Sergio, and I built a cellar in our basement. Up until this point we had just casually enjoyed wine, after this we fell quickly into the wine world. It started with tastings, we needed to stock our cellar, of course, so we were running out almost every other weekend at first buying all sorts of goodies to get our cellar full. The tastings and friends we made along the way got us interested in classes, so we took a few here and there and finally ended up getting a membership at one of our favorite stores in the city that includes all regular classes and WSET classes for a whole year. (WSET is the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, it offers certifications for beginners through advanced) I haven't figured out exactly what I will do with a certification, but I am having fun learning. After we began the education adventure, we developed an interest in making wine, so that consumed our energy for awhile. We are still in process of our first batch, hopefully it turns out ok.

I jumped at the opportunity to take the reins on this group because I love the idea of meeting new people and I love wine. I really hope to bring a new perspective to this group and liven things up. I am going to do my best to increase the frequency and variety of the outings and I strongly encourage suggestions. I also want to keep this an upbeat group for all levels of enthusiasts to feel comfortable, I am rather new to the wine scene myself and I have been fortunate to have friendly people to take the time and show me the ropes. Wine should be fun.

Please let me know the things you would like to see this group doing, whether you are interested in education, making wine, drinking wine, traveling to vineyards etc., tell me so we can get out and do some great activities.

Thank you for your membership, and I look forward to meeting you all soon!
