Lakeland Tabletop Games Club - 5th meetup - 11 Jul 14, 7 pm.

Each meeting is getting bigger and better... thank you all! Please post a comment if you have a request to play a specific game or are bringing something of your own.

So in keeping with the deeply thematic games of fantasy, there are a few more games that I was thinking of pulling off the shelf for yall next time.  The top three are probably Descent, Talisman, and Runebound.    All are great but because I tortured you guys last time with that crazy Tomb game, I think I'll lighten up the rule set while keeping with a strong adventure/build-your-hero theme... Let's go with Runebound.   This is one of my favorites though with 6 folks it might take the full evening.  I'll try to reduce this by using a variant that limits the game by the use of a "Doom Track."

Hope to see all of you there!

    How did Runebound end?

Red card sudden death... Frank got three dragons (red cards) on his last turn to win.

Had a great time, glad to meet a group of others who enjoy gaming as much as I do!

I think the Runebound game is going to fill up pretty quick. It may help if I can get a confirmation via this comment thread on who actually wants in on this. Otherwise it'll have to be just first come first served. I can take 6 players. I will gladly sit out and just GM if that will get one more in.

It looks like I won't be able to make it by 7. I'm currently shooting for 8:00 to 8:30.

I'm hoping to make it, this time I'm dying to meet some other gamers from the area. Do any of you go to the Thursday group at coliseum of comics in down town lakeland? I've heard there's a group that meets there. But I've yet to meet them

Usually most games are started by 7 but some games are quick so there's restarts through the night. We play until 11 or maybe 11:30 depending on what's going on.

Anyone going to a Midnight Pre-release for Magic the Gathering afterwards?

    July 10

    • Jeff

Nope. Played that a time or two but never bought a deck. I'm 20 years too late to that game. ;-)

I'll be bringing a lot of my games this Friday for folks to try, plus some new ones I just picked up at dice tower con. Can teach multiple games if needed. :)

I don't have it, but have played it and it's pretty fun. And the amazon price will get back to the actual MSRP once the next print run hits.
If you want a deck builder, I did just pick up Marvel Legendary: Villains.... >:)

      July 9

    • Jim B.

Yeah, I've had my eye on the legendary series for a while

I will be unable to attend due to a new job position. I hope everyone has fun!

Good luck with your new job. (First thing you should do is march into your new boss's office and demand that you don't work Friday nights anymore. This will impress on him your confidence and self-assurance. If he fires you on the spot, it's his fault for being so heavy-handed and you will have the higher moral ground.) If anyone else wants my sage advice, please call me anytime, seeing how I am temporarily unemployed...

Hello all! Jeff said I could step in here and make a little plug of my own. This gathering is happening in conjunction with a Game Night hosted by the Lakeland Role Playing Guild, as have all previous events you've held. We love having you guys come out and share the space with us.

Anyway, I am running one of the LRPG tables that night and it will be an original Star Wars adventure. It will be a combination of D20 System RPG and X-Wing Miniature Game with pre-generated characters and pre-established starfighter units.

There already are three claimed seats but I have room for a few more so, if you are interested in joining me, please let me know. Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday!

    Peace!

I agree with Jeff, he is a little spastic, and all over the place, but you will definitely get the gist of the game. This is also one of my favorites, and I look forward to playing with everyone.

Btw... here's a link to a video walkthrough that will really bring you up to speed. This guy is kinda spastic but in a sort of funny way. Basic vid is about 30 min. If you want to see some advanced stuff, check out the follow up video also.
