USM Portland Food Forest Garden Installation Workparty

Join us for a historic opportunity to learn and experience the building of a Food Forest Garden at USM Portland! Forest gardening is based on Permaculture design principles, mimicking woodland ecosystems, which can provide food, medicine and fiber for humans as well as a habitat to support other species including our bee populations. A sustainable, closed loop systems approach to gardening that rejuvenates ecosystems with minimal upkeep.

David Homa, graduate of USM and currently of Post Carbon Designs and Resilient Roots, designed the USM food forest garden and will be leading the workshop and installation.
This work party will be preceded by a food forest garden workshop on Tuesday June 18 from 6-8p in Luther Bonney Hall room 403. Both events are free but require prior registration( please reference the Meetup event on June 18th to sign up) Attendees are encouraged to attend BOTH events as that will enhance learning of the concepts and provide a skill workforce during the installation.

+1. We didn't make it to the class a little while ago, but would love to stop by and check out this event! Is there a rain date?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
