Staunton State Park is a new park easy to get to from Denver, just head west on 285 and look for the big brown sign west 6 miles west of Conifer. There is an entry fee of $7 if you don't already have a state park sticker in your windshield so consider carpooling. We will assemble at the 2nd parking lot and then ride the Staunton Ranch trail up to the Marmot Passage trail, take that down to the pond, come back to the intersection via the Bugling Elk trail, then left on the Border Line trail and back to the parking lot via the Mason Creek trail. the last 3 or 4 miles are mostly downhill, nice reward after all the climbing. Total about 15 miles. I am a slow rider so I am creating this as a level 3.
All riders must be members (it's a liability thing)---want to bring a friend, have them register, it's free! If this is your first time riding with LMB, please review our assumption of risks/waiver of liability.
If you like good dirt and good people, this is the group for you. We're about having fun while riding mountain bikes. We love to ride, and we love getting others out riding. That's why many of our rides are geared towards beginner and intermediate riders. Don't let that fool you though, we have rides for all skill levels. What this group brings to the table more than anything is a laid back vibe with a no drop attitude. This is very much a social riding group. If you're into tracking your cadence and getting in hot laps on the local trails, then you'll probably want to look elsewhere. We ride all over the Front Range of Colorado, with occasional jaunts a bit further out. Our most frequented areas include Jefferson County (JeffCo), Boulder County, and Buffalo Creek. We'll also take a few big multi-day trips per year to other riding hot spots in and out of state.
We offer multiple levels of rides to accommodate riders of all physical and technical ability levels. All of our rides will have a level designation to help you find a ride that's right for you. Please take a minute to read the LMB rules and difficulty descriptions before signing up for a ride. These can be found in our discussion forums here. Welcome to LMB. I look forward to seeing you out on the trails. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
