Lets take an opportunity to do ride some of Highlands Ranch Back Country Trails. I am a Highlands Ranch resident and will be leading this ride. You will get to enjoy the wonderful trails we have in our community. They are normally closed to the public as a recreation card is required for entrance.
Where to meet
Mountain Vista High School can be accessed from Broadway or University to Wildcat Parkway. Turn south into the driveway between the two schools. Go all the way to the south end by the sports field/track and park up by the gate of the sidewalk that goes to the track/fields. I may ride over and if so I will be there with the waiver to sign. I usually have braided pigtails under my white helmet and may have on a Hammer Nutrition "kit" . If I drive I have an Acurua RSX with flowered bike racks.
We will leave at 5:50PM at the latest so plan accordingly. We will climb the hill partway to turn right on the East West trail and then come in through the gate for the various trails of the Back Country. There are a number of fun trails on both the east and west side of the main EAST/WEST road trail that we will ride.
What are we doing
Be prepared for about a 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 hour ride and probably about 8-17 miles (not sure of exact miles as it depends on what trails we take). Be sure to have enough water and food, we will be on trails with great views but no tree coverage and it can get hot.
It is mostly a rolling, fun and not technical ride but we will be moving fast with only a few short stops. You should be at least a strong level 4 to keep up with the group. We will average about 11-13 miles per hour (granted the climbs will be slower and the descents faster).
The group is limited to a small number because these are private trails. We will stop for all walkers/hikers/runners (unless waived on through) to avoid any complaints agaisnt us being turned in. If you sign up and can't make it be sure to cancel your RSVP so someone on the wait list has enough time to prepare if they are moved up and want to join us.
I allow no guests on my rides. I purposefully make my meetups with no guests. A guest has never read the meetup disclosure, and a guest has never read our groups waiver. If you have a friend that wants to ride with us have them sign up. Its really easy and takes no time at all. I will not allow riders that aren't part of our group. That's my decision as an organizer for this group.
I hope to see you all on the trail.
