Level 4 Flatirons Vista trails from Coalton Trailhead,Spring Brook Loop optional

We will meet at the Coalton Trailhead parking lot at 6 pm leaving no later than 6.15pm. The parking here is free.

Directions to the trailhead parking lot: It is at the new roundabout intersection of McCaslin Blvd and Coalton Rd in Superior, on the west side of McCaslin Blvd. If you’re coming from Hwy 93 take CO 128 east to McCaslin Blvd and head north to Coalton Rd. If you are coming from US 36 take McCaslin Blvd south to Coalton Rd.

Ride description: This is a fairly easy ride technically but the distance we’ll ride is 15.4 miles or 20.3 miles. We'll start on Coalton Trial, head up a short steep hill and cruise on a wide dirt road for the first couple of miles. Then, we’ll take the rocky in sections High Plains trail to Greenbelt Plateau. Here, we cross Hwy 93 and ride the Flatirons Vista area. It’s a steady small incline climb on the Prairie Vista trail and nice ride through the trees on the Flatirons Vista South to Flatirons Vista North trail. If we start heading back at this point, it will make up for a 15.4 mile ride. If we have time and everybody feels up for it, we can add the Spring Brook Loop to the ride, which will be an additional 4.9 miles. The way back is taking the Flatirons Vista North trail to the highway and then the same way we came on High Plains and Coalton trail back to the parking lot.

Make sure your bike is in a good working order. Wearing a helmet is required. Bring plenty of water, extra tube, rain jacket, sun block and bug spray. Few other highly recommended items to have in your bag on any mtb ride are: pump/CO2, multi-tool, chain-tool, power-link. http://www.meetup.com/Lakewood-Mountain-Biking/messages/boards/thread/7876647?thread=7876647

Bring your rain coat, just in case. We'll do the 15 mile route today at level 3 pace. See you all soon.
