Northern Tier Trail (Towar to Tower series)

There is series of 12 caches along the Northern Tier trail (paved walking path). They seem to all be within close proximity of each other so we should be able to knock out the whole series in one go. 10 of the 12 have been found within the last month so we should have a good chance of finding them. In addition, there are 4 additional caches on the path we can try if there is time and energy. Here is the info from the series: This short series begins on the Northern Tier Trail at Towar Rd and continues past a dog park, the East Lansing Aquatic center, through Abbot Park, past Ashton Lakes Park to the south, past Abbey Park to the North, and ends at the water tower. The distance from end to end is a little under 2 miles. I plan on doing the full walk there and back (about 4 miles total). However, there is an easy point that folks can do part of the trail and head back (about 1 mile roundtrip- recommended if you have small children, limited ability/time/interest, etc).

We will meet and park in the north Abbot Park near the Northern Tail Dog Park at 1pm.
1-1:15pm Geocaching 101
1:15pm The hunt commences!
3:30pm Anticipated end time (really no idea how long it should take but google says walking it without stopping to cache would take about 45-60min each way).

For more information, here is map of just that path. http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx?lat=42.724817&lng=-84.54625#?ll=[masked],[masked]&z=15 Many of the caches are hidden a dozen feet or so off the path. That means we will be stepping into some wooded areas so wear appropriate shoes and clothing (I always recommend pants and long sleeves when in the woods to prevent scratches and bug bites). Hopefully the weather will be nice so bring water for yourself as well. More details will be posted as the event gets closer.

6 of 8 found! Not bad at all. Boy, once the sun came out, it got warm. I enjoyed meeting Gar & Family (and dog!). :) I look forward to seeing you again soon.

I know there has been some question about the weather. Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm planning on going rain or shine. So, the event is still on. :) I'll be in a green sweatshirt so, if this is your first event, you'll know how to identify me.

Sorry. I'm out for tomorrow even if it doesn't rain. Hail storm took out the back window of my car. I'm probably going to be stuck here in oxford until either the rain let's up or the dealership opens on Monday.

So sorry guys but I am going to bail out on you. I have to go to Ann Arbor to sign an apartment lease for my daughter.

I'm concerned about the weather forecast - RAIN - so, as much as I'd like to do this, I'm going to say "no" for now. If things look better on Sunday, I'll try to be there.
