Introduction to Laravel

Depending on how many RSVP, I'll be giving an introduction to the Laravel PHP Framework and how it can help you to create powerful, manageable web applications, and how it stacks up in comparison to other PHP frameworks.

Eli, can you provide the slides for those of us that missed some or all of it?

    • Eli W.

Yeah I'll put those up, but most of the info on them is from the Laravel Docs...

Ok Everybody! We've got a really awesome space lined up for this meeting at:
CoWork Tampa: 3104 North Armenia Ave Suite 2
    Tampa, Florida 33607

I'll be putting together some slides that cover the best parts of Laravel, then we can discuss/compare if you want. So make sure to bring your laptops.

Hopefully everyone will make it out!

Also, I know some of the attendees have already mentioned that they are looking for freelance help, so if you're a freelance dev looking for some work you should definitely be there!

    Hey Everyone,
First of all, thanks for joining the group and RSVP'ing! I'm trying to lock down a good location for us right now, hopefully by tomorrow I should know. Of course, if anyone has any suggestions on a good place I'd be happy to hear them!

iHop's are usually quite accommodating if most of the people buy dinner from them. There's one on Curlew Rd. and US19. They have free wi-fi too.

I know! I learned that lesson the hard way, hope you make it, you can help us compare it to CodeIgniter.

This may not be on topic but I'm excited to share two sites I launched this Monday that were built on Laravel.

    http://www.exploregeorgia.org/
    http://www.gacivilwar.org/

Both cases were primarily a migration from .Net to PHP with the intention of keeping as much client side code as possible. Some sections of exploregeorgia.org were completely redesigned. There is no page caching on either. Anyway, I'm really excited to have a local Laravel group and am looking forward to the meeting at the end of the month; to see how others have used Laravel and to talk about my experiences. I am looking for freelancers for the next build.

Awesome Collin, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to meeting you and hearing more about your experience with Laravel.
