Toys for Kids Parade November 24, 2013

  • November 24, 2013 · 10:30 AM

The 33rd Annual Toys for Kids Motorcycle Parade will take place November 24, 2013. The parade will once again end at the Las Cruces Convention Center at the corner of University and El Paseo.

The fun and traditions continue with the bike show, live music, door prizes, grand prize drawing, raffles, a silent auction, vendors and more! Motorcyclists will gather and register at Mesilla Valley Mall from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30; participants can also register at the Convention Center. The parade will leave the mall at noon sharp.* To participate in the parade, motorcycles must be street legal, registered and insured. If you don’t have a motorcycle, join us at the Convention Center! We are asking non-motorcycle drivers to park at NMSU, or Pioneer Bank on the northeast corner of El Paseo and University to allow bikers to park in the Convention Center lot. A donation of $10 and a new toy valued at $7.00 or more per person gets you a meal and two beverages, plus the chance to win a door prize and the grand prize. If you don't bring a toy, you will be asked to contribute $7.00 toward the purchase of a new toy.

If you’d like to donate toys but are unable to make it on November 24th, you can drop off toys at Tresco TOTS, 2325 E Nevada or Wheelsport, 105 Hanks Dr. in Mesilla Park.

Parade route to be determined by the Las Cruces Police Department. We will keep you updated.

Had a fun time. It was sad to see such a small crowd for such an important yearly event. I drove to the original registration spot at the mall just to see the road conditions. It was just cold and wet so I rode my bike back to the mall and found out that the parade had been cancelled :( I was so disappointed but I could also understand for liability reasons why that decision was made. Anyway, as Garry mentioned we had some good laughs with LCMR staff and sat on some really nice bikes. Music and food were good. The weather stayed cold but the roads were just fine. See ya next time.

Because of the weather the crowd was small. Food and music was good and we had a great time, lots of belly laughs with the Las Cruces Motorsports group Got to sit on a some nice bikes. L Nice gifts. Eva, Bill and I got there at 12:30P and stayed until the end just in case someone showed. Maybe next time.

Ugh can't get the bike out, got a big mud hole at the shop.
Guess I should have moved it to the other side of the building yesterday. Oh well...see you guys at the convention center, oh I'll have a Christmas vest on.

I'm still riding my bike to the convention center to pre-register then to Sears to alert any LCMR riders as to what's up. Taking Treviz to Telshor. Took a drive this morning. Roads are just wet and it's C-O-L-D. See you there Garry :)

Dave, thanks for the info. I'll still be at Sears at 10:30A just to catch anyone that doesn't get the update. I have a Honda Element. Look for T-shirts with the Las Cruces Motorcycle Meetup on them.

It is still a go. I'm not riding, using 4 wheels. I'll be at the Sears Tire Center at 10:30A. Some of the group are going to meet me at the Convention Center at 1PM. What ever works for you is good.

If the weather isn't good to be on the bikes plan on being at the Convention Center about 1PM and hang out for awhile. There will be a bike show, food and music and just a good old time.

The weather over the weekend doesn't look good. Sunday morning check the weather on line then walk outside to check the weather, it isn't always the same. Also remember this is New Mexico and the weather changes quickly. If it is raining. snowing or the temps will cause sever shrinkage, Sunday morning I will be at Sears at 10:30A. using 4 wheels. Everything else is indoors at the Convention Center.

This year I'm not buying a toy, I'm doing the registration fee and then giving them another $10. for a toy. Much easier than trying to strap a toy to my bike.

What will happen with the toy run if start snowing on Sunday or Saturday night, according to the NWS prediction for this week-end?, I can handle cold weather, as well a little rain, but what about snow?, I'm still a novice with the motorcycle.

They are saying possible snow flurries, thing is, temps will be high enough to keep the snow from sticking. Dress warm.

Hey Bill, it is set to meet in the parking lot on the Sears Tire Center, I think it is the north side of the Mall and then ride around the back side to the JC Penny parking lot. We did this last year and it worked. The other thing is I talked to Eva and we are going to move the meet up time to 10:30AM, KSU at 10:35AM.. gives us plenty of time to register and check out the other bikes. Last year it took 30 minutes just to get out of JC Parking lot. If anyone wants to meet at Las Cruses Motorsports and ride up together, not a problem, we'll catch you at the Mall. Thanks.

Just a suggestion, I say we all meet up at the LC Motorsports parking at 10pm and then head up Missouri to the JC Penny parking lot. Wadda say?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
