I've published a great deal of poetry and non-fiction but what I'm currently working on is a novel. A post-apocalyptic dystopian fantasy with feminist themes. "Herland" meets "Animal Farm."
My new book, Spunk, a Fable, was helped along by the feedback received in the group. In the past I've published as Helen H. Moore and I work as a book editor in Las Vegas.
I have a question; where has the idea that speech tags are to be eschewed come from? Likewise the notion that adverbs ending in "ly" and gerunds ("ing") are anathema? These are all part of a writer's toolkit. Who has been responsible for the dissemination of the concept that these are "children of a lesser god," so to speak?
