Pot Luck and Karaoke Night at Dee's

We have been wanting to do something special since the December Holiday party, and so we are using William's birthday as our justification to have a night of food, Karaoke, games and hot-tubbing at Dee's near the M resort (address will be released later). William certainly deserves special recognition because he is just an amazing participant and "activist" of our group, and I don't think it would have been nearly as successful without him.

The event will start at 7PM and will run until Dee kicks us out. This event is open to anyone who has done at least one hike with our group. Members may RSVP with a guest, but there are no children at this event. Members are asked to bring a dish to the pot-luck. Dee is providing tableware, napkins, etc., but we need to bring the food and beverages. When you RSVP please say what you will be bringing. Also, look at what others say they are bringing so that we have a fair balance of mains and sides. It's also a BYOB event.

I give up, I'm throwing in the towel now. Even if the fever and other symptoms go away tomorrow, I'll probably still be contagious. I'll be eating pork balls for the next 2 weeks thanks to my optimism and belief that I could cure myself in 2 days. My first party in 9 years, this really bites the big one. Have a great time and don't put me on no "weight list", Wiiliam!

I don't think this meetup was originally posted as excluding anyone. I would have noticed.
I find it very bad taste to change this at the last minute to an exclusive event. You want to have a private party, fine, but don't post it as a regular meetup event that excludes members of the meetup.
I guess I'll be canceling my rsvp made weeks ago.

    March 13

    • William M.

Mark, I'm sorry. We extend the courtesy to the generous person who hosts the party that everyone who attends has at least hiked once with us. Although I can see now that the stipulation could have been featured more prominently, it was posted exactly as it is now. This is a hiking group and we invite everyone to hike with us. You must admit that until someone hikes, they cannot, technically, call themselves a hiker, right? I'll make you a deal, come hiking with us, host a party, and you can invite whoever you want. OK?

Mark if you rsvp'd weeks ago was there a reason you were not able to make any of our other events (hikes/walks)? Do you work weekends, or have a crazy work schedule ? If so if you mention it on the meet up site for this group I know they will try and plan something around everyone's schedule. If you are just worried about going out with a bunch of people you do not know, remember we were all in the same place at one time. If you are worried about being the "last one or holding everyone up" please don't worry I have been with this group for about 2 months now and sometimes I am still the last one, but there is always someone there with me, this group is to encourage each other. So please do not be upset when a mistake was made, this event is to celebrate a birthday of one of our group a great friend. How could you go to a "party" to celebrate someones birthday and not even have met them yet? Please give the group a chance and we will be happy to meet you on our next adventure. :-)

I have posted the address in a private email to attendees. Our numbers for this are dwindling, but it will still be fun! Remember to post what you are bringing and perhaps bring a friend too! Also, if you plan to hot tub bring a bathing suit and towel.

Richard, I was late RSVPing, so I missed out on the address. If you could private forward it or just bring it tomorrow, I would be oh so grateful!!! I am still working up a recipe but it will probably be veggie.

No, no, NO! Woke with a sore throat yesterday, hit the drugstore, living on Zicam, vitamin C, salt water gargles, honey and lemon tea. This morning added packed sinuses, headache. I'm not calling it yet, maybe it's a 24hour bug? I have been looking forward to this event for weeks and haven't been sick in years. I want my mommy.....

I have a family emergency and have to fly out of town. I am so sorry I will miss the fun.

Amazing how you always think of things last minute, Was just thinking to let everyone know, if you have any CD+G disks, with your favorite songs please do bring them, I do have in excess of[masked] songs available, so there is plenty to choose from. I also will have the X Box with Kinect to play on, in the other room, so if anyone has any games they want to bring for the Xbox Kinect Please bring them. We can Bowl, Ride the river rapids, Dance, and loads of other games that will be fun and also great exercise. If you have never played on XBox Kinect you are going to love it. Really looking forward to the party.

The restrictions for this specific event are totally reasonable, and we have hikes open to everyone on at least a weekly basis, if not more often. Not sure why this person got so upset about it.

(wait a second) HEY! YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN! ... Ok now, where were we? Did I ever tell you what it was like, when I was your age, before the Great War? We didn't have hiking. No sirree. We had to walk to school. Everyday. Six miles there, eight miles back. Both ways uphill. In the snow. Ah those were the good old days ..........
