Red Spring to Ash Meadow (Easy)

Meet at the picnic area by 8:00 am. We will be on the trail no later than 8:05. I will arrive around 7:45.

There are various trails that follow the base of the Calico Hills from the picnic area. I don't have a set plan other than to do about 3 miles going to Ash Meadows and back. Its a very scenic area and there is a potential to see some wildlife.

The purpose is to get out for an easy hike and encourage new members to get out for perhaps their first hike. All our welcome to attend.

This is easy hiking, but its not a walk in the park. It will be more strenuous than walking in the city or on pavement. If you are not used to that, it may not seem easy.. but still this is about as easy as hiking gets in Red Rock Canyon. There won't be any rock scrambling. The trails are fairly easy going, but there are parts where they will be rocky and uneven.   Still the elevation gain is minimal.. this is mostly a flat hike.

No scenic loop to drive!!

Bring enough water for yourself. Its getting warm. Pace will be relaxed. No one left behind. No rush. We will take plenty of rest breaks and will still be done well before lunch time.

Bring a good attitude and no whining on my hikes!

I am not a guide, but happy to lead the way and will do everything I can to make this a safe and enjoyable experience for you.

So glad i got out of bed and went. The wind wasnt as bad, up there in Red Rock as in town...i was thinking dirt in the eye but nope ! So this hike was beautiful. What a surprise, the meadows. There was a trickle of a waterfall and pond that was purely meditative. The birdsong, there were even tadpoles and water smails and this weird little bug under the water. Such discovery ! Nice to take the time for these kinds of things. We had that fantastic tree to rest under its canopy and shade. (Nick's new office). The weather was perfect for this hike, about 73 degrees. I could have stayed all day....but i got hungry.

They won't be as frequent over the summer.. but for the next couple weeks I will post. Early because of the heat and to keep the wife and job happy.
