Shippable Containers and Testing Round Table

This month will be a little different.  Scott Scoble will be giving a presentation on shippable containers for PAAS and then we will have a testing round table for the remaining time.

About Shippable Containers

Using Docker.io (http://docker.io) and Serf (http://serfdom.io), I will demonstrate how to Bring Your Own Platform as a Service to each of your environments. Each Docker container will be able to talk to other Docker containers using Serf's gossip protocol with a little customization.

We will go from scratch to a fully deployed, zero-downtime deploy, Silex application on AWS in 45 minutes. This will be a high-level demonstration of the power of Docker and Serf when it comes to shippable containers on every code change, not just every code push. You'll be able to share your entire stack with everyone on your team and they'll be able to spin them up easily.

QA will love you, for certain!

About the Testing Round Table

Testing best practices that will meet the current needs or you and your team has been topic that gets a lot of talks but the question and answer periods are always cut short.  Many developers and development teams are searching for the processes and tools that are right for them based on their business need and technical skillset. This round table will allow for the group members to lean on each other to help understand the who, what, when, where, and why of testing.

Today, I'll be presenting part one of a two part talk on using docker and serf to orchestrate clusters for continuous delivery, self healing clusters, and transparent scaling. I am finishing up my slides and notes now and look forward to seeing all of you tonight!
