"Bringing Families Back" walk & picnic
Date: Saturday, December 5, 2009 / Time: 9:45 a.m.
Location: Corner of Fort Apache & Peace Way (4500 S. Fort Apache)
Please join us during our "Bringing Families Back" walk across the Las Vegas valley as we show the kind and compassionate side of Las Vegas. What happens in Vegas is shared with the world as demonstrated through the 93 foreign exchange students from the EF Foundation who will be joining our walk.
Leading our "Bringing Families Back" walk will be Harry Goodwolf Kindness & Dermot Butterly. Both Harry & Dermot have walked across the United States to share a message, "ALL Life Is Sacred! Save Mother Earth!"
Additionally, from February 14 - July 14, 2010, Harry will be leading another walk across the country from Huntington Beach, CA to Wash, DC (covering over 5,000 miles) on the Longest Walk For Diabetes Awareness/Prevention/Reversal. This walk is being organized by Dennis Banks, the co-founder of the American Indian Movement. To learn more about the walk and how Dennis Banks overcame this crippling disease, please visit: http://www.LongestWalkForDiabetes.info
Dermot recently completed a one year walk across the United States from Los Angeles to Washington, DC (www.GandhiPeaceWalk.org) for a special group of children in Soro, India, for peace and nonviolence, and to bring awareness to many issues affecting our environment.
At the conclusion of our walk we will have a potluck picnic at Desert Breeze park at 12:00 pm (noon) with everyone bringing a dish from their native country. We will share a day in the sun with many friends from various backgrounds, cultures, religions, and traditions that exemplify the spirit and diverseness of America, and show Las Vegas as a beacon of light for the world to see.
During our walk, we will also be carrying the World March banner to raise awareness to the World March for Peace and Nonviolence that started on October 2, 2010, the international day of nonviolence, in New Zealand, and will end on January 2, 2010 in Argentina. (www.TheWorldMarch.org / www.WorldMarchUSA.net) We are also walking in Honor & Remembrance of Jasmine Fiore, and many others like her who lost their lives due to senseless acts of violence -- may their light guide us on our journey...
Over the coming months we will have similar walks that will also raise awareness to the worldwide Olympic Peace Movement. Our vision is to have thousands of “Long Walkers, Peace Walkers, World Peace Walkers, Gandhi Peace Walkers, Peace Pilgrim Walkers, Peace, Dignity & Respect Walkers, Sunshine Peace Walkers, Olympic Peace Walkers, World Marchers, Peace & Dignity Runners, and Indigenous Spirit Runners” join us during our Olympic "Peace, Dignity & Respect" walks in Las Vegas and worldwide on February 12, 2010.
