Victorian Railroad Ladies Hat Decorating Class / December 2013

  • Dec 8, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

LUNCH: Please bring your own lunch and soda. I have hot tea for everyone.
HAT IDEAS: Please check our pictures and see which hat you want to copy / Or check Kentucky Derby hats online for styles and ideas.

GUESTS: I want everyone who comes to my private house to be a approved member, no guests please.

1] SHOPPING FOR PRODUCTS: One old/or new hat, to add your pretty fabric & décor / You can find 1 yard of Penne velvet (it stretches) at JoAnn's. Or, you can also go to Hobby Lobby for unusual flowers, jewels, feathers and seasonal ornaments.

2] CHEAP UGLY HATS: Ugly straw hats will be covered with fabric anyway, so don't worry to build an economical design, it's all good.

3] RESOURCES: Contrast color feathers of choice available on Ebay / Joann's / costume shops / Feather shop on main Street / Fancy ribbon at Heddy's fabric store on Charleston & Decatur -west of Decatur, south side of street / Fancy flowers at Hobby Lobby Store / Dollar store, antique store you may find matching gold or silver custom jewelry for accent décor for your hat. Preparing the design can be just as much fun. When I see a piece for later, I buy,, it may be gone next time I look for it.

Do your research online about Victorian hats, you will be amazed what you can find for ideas, maybe print out your favorite designs for future hats, I do.

TOOLS NEEDED: Hope you have a bag on wheels, it comes in handy.
- Bring your own desk lamp
- Bring your own extension cord.
- Pins and good scissors
- Needle & matching thread & pins
- One little glue gun & glue sticks
- Old dish for glue gun to protect work space
- An empty 1 gallon water bottle for your hat, if you like, you can fill it up with tab water it makes a good hat stand when you are working.
