Joshua Tree Seed Pod Collection -- Spring Mountains Fire Restoration Project

For those who would like to help with fire restoration efforts in the Mt. Charleston area, here is one opportunity. We'll join other volunteers with Go Mt. Charleston this Saturday to harvest Joshua Tree seeds from 9 am to 12 noon.

Anyone is welcome to participate, though children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have a signed parental consent form. Expect to walk on uneven terrain, bend, reach and pick seeds or fruit by hand. Wear sturdy shoes, a hat and work gloves and bring water and sunscreen.

If you plan to participate please RSVP on this site AND contact Cody Dix at [masked] or[masked] to register directly, by 5 pm on Thursday, Aug. 15.

I'll be in touch later in the week with more details, but please plan on meeting at about 8:30 am to carpool.

FYI, last Saturday we were among 43 volunteers who collected a total of 397 lbs of seed pods -- that's a lot of Joshua Tree seed pods!

Thanks so much to Chris, Jenny, Barry, Minas and Henry for coming out to help this morning! I agree it was a fun and well organized event, thank you to Go Mt. Charleston for organizing. We and all the other volunteers were able to gather a lot of Joshua Tree seed pods -- I'm looking forward to seeing them get planted to help an area off Kyle Canyon Road recover from the fire.
