September 28 -- National Public Lands Day -- we'll join fellow volunteers, the folks from Go Mt. Charleston and the U.S. Forest Service to plant Joshua Tree seeds. The planting will take place in the vicinity of Harris Springs Road and will help accelerate revegetation of an area burned by the Carpenter 1 fire.
The seeds we'll be planting were gathered in August by volunteers, including members of the LVMC.
We'll meet at 8:30 am to carpool, and the project will run from 9 am - 12 pm. Anyone is welcome to participate, though children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have a signed parental consent form. Activities will involve walking on uneven terrain, bending and planting seeds by hand. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, pants, a hat and work gloves, and bring water and sunscreen.
When the date gets closer I will email participants with a carpool location.
In the meantime, please remember to answer the questions after RSVP'ing. If you are using a phone, the questions may not appear, so please go back on your computer to answer the questions. In addition to RSVP'ing here, please register directly with Cody Dix at [masked] or[masked]-5408.
