This is a weekend trip to summit a few prominent peaks in Southern California
Hot Springs Peak - 6,533' elevation, 2,600' prominence and highest point of San Diego County
Toro Peak - 8,716' elevation, 3,996' prominence
Granite Mountain - 4,331' elevation, 3,314' prominence and on the DPS list
The plan is to camp partway down on Friday night, hike Hot Springs Mountain and Toro Peak on Saturday (both are road hikes, where we should be able choose the distance we want to hike, based on timing and how we feel). Saturday evening we will head towards Granite Mountain where we will camp at the trailhead to ensure an early start as Sunday will likely be warm. An early start should also allow us to return to Las Vegas at a reasonable hour (late afternoon)
Total Distance: maybe 8 miles Saturday, 10 miles round trip Sunday
Total Elevation Gain: maybe 2,000' on Saturday, 3,500' on Sunday
Altitude: 1,000' - 8,716'
Terrain Description: Road hikes on Saturday, class 1-3 on Sunday with maybe a use trail
Approximate Hiking Time: 4 hours Saturday, 7 hours Sunday
