Skills Practice - Leading Sport Climbs

  • May 25, 2014 · 7:00 AM

This session is for experienced sport climbers who are ready to get on the sharp end of the rope and start leading.  If you are at this point, you probably have your own gear (harness, shoes, helmet, locking biner and belay device).  Obviously, you must be competent with the basics of climbing: signals, tying in,  belaying.   You should be competent on 5.7 rock climbs and rarely fall at that level.

The club will provide ropes and lead gear (quick draws and anchor hardware).  We require helmets for these outings and can provide them if needed.

Please remember to answer the questions after RSVPing. If you are using a phone, the questions will not appear. Therefore, please check back again to answer the questions.

To participate in this outing, you must be a current, paid member of LVMC. You can obtain a membership via this link: http://www.lvmc.org/w.... The fee is $40 per year for a family/roommates or $30 per year for an individual. Please contact your organizer if you have any questions.

Good intro class. Thanks to Rich for bringing everyone up to a basic understanding of leading sport routes. There was even a handout!

Lynda, Michelle & Richard, Barb just let me know our Grandkids are coming to town that weekend, so I have had to change my RSVP from yes to no. Sorry I will miss the outing and your company. It has been a while since I have been on the rocks and will look forward to some future such event. Thanks, have fun and be safe.

I don't think we could be done that early. These things usually go into the afternoon.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
