This is a trip to summit Hole-in-the-mountain Peak, but we will also hike nearby Spruce Mountain. The plan is to leave early Saturday, drive up (about 5.5 hours) and hike Spruce Mountain. Spruce Mountain has a road to the summit, so we should be able to choose the amount of hike we want. After that we will drive to the trailhead for Hole-in-the-mountain Peak and camp.to get an early start. On Sunday, we will climb Hole-in-the-mountain Peak, and then return to Las Vegas. I expect we will be back in town by 8pm Sunday night.
Hole-in-the-mountain Peak will be a celebration peak for me, completing the Nevada peaks with 4,000 or more feet of prominence. While not an "official" peakbagger.com list, given it has 24 geographically diverse peaks, I'm going to celebrate it anyway!
Please note that this is exploratory- I have not climbed in the area, much less to these summits before, so all information is based on research.
