Aussie/Brit, love camping and hiking and always up for random trips!
Ever suddenly realize that the weekend is almost upon you and you have a few free days, but can't find someone with an open schedule to accompany you on that killer hike you've been wanting to do for months? Or have you tried to organize a trip through another backpacking meetup and found that it's a mess of coordinating schedules? Well, it is not by coincidence that I'm starting this on a Thursday night. I'm a big believer in the power of spontaneity, so here's to hoping that I'm not alone in my quest for like-minded folk.
A few expectations: (a) be able to get up early enough so that your fellow backpackers enthusiasm isn't lost at the parking lot (b) be mindful: last minute trips do not mean forgetting your tent, food or other essentials (c) be flexible: this is all about making it come together quickly, so you've got to be able to go with the flow. If you get to Yosemite and that same-day pass isn't available, find another trailhead and enjoy the weekend anyway. (d) know your limitations - no one wants to get hurt. And (e) finally - this meetup is all about the week ahead. There are plenty of great meetups for your long-range plans, this is the one to post to for the adventure you want to have in the next 7 days.
