The long awaited return of Laurel & Hardy to Greater Atlanta is happening now! You'll be an important part of shaping who we are, where and when we meet and other important considerations that can impact our success in perpetuating the spirit and genius of Laurel & Hardy, along with a smattering of other comedies, including silent gems. You'll see our newly issued charter, and be provided with our constitution, which was written very tongue-in-cheek.
We will be watching the Laurel & Hardy sound short, "One Good Turn", the namesake film for our local group. In it, Stan and Ollie are victims of the Depression, who haven't eaten for three whole days. "Yes, ma'am," affirms Stan, "yesterday, today, and tomorrow."
This should prove to be a fun and lively group. You've provided information about your whereabouts, and meeting day/time preferences. We'll have this tabulated and distributed to everyone as a starting point for discussion.
Beforehand, please give some thought to specific meeting locations. The facilities should have adequate space for seating 20-30 people, good acoustics, and permit us to pop free popcorn for those in attendance. Importantly, the room should be at little or no cost to the group. A feature we provide is free advertising for the facility.
As a special bonus to all in attendance, one lucky person will take home a 400 page hardcover edition of the book, "Laurel and Hardy" by Jack McCabe, one of the original founders of this organization. It is large sized and filled with pictures and plots to every one of the 100+ films they made together! This is the book to have!!
Oh, and don't forget free popcorn, too. We'll take a group picture also. So make your RSVP, without reservation, so you you can be, right from the start, part of another nice mess in Atlanta.
